INSIGHTS AND VISION FOR DEFENSE AND COMMERCIAL LEADERS

An Ongoing Journey

For IAI, Sustainability is not a buzzword but a 60-year-old concept and task it has taken upon itself from day one.

A new jargon is taking over the corporate sphere with buzzwords like sustainable development, environmental management, corporate responsibility, social impact, responsible investments, and more. As we issue our fourth annual sustainability report, IAI, like many other local and global companies, recognizes that strategic management of environmental and social risks and opportunities supports long-term business growth. As a category leader with great responsibility, IAI ranks sustainably high on our scale of priorities.

While corporate responsibility is a term that was only used a few years ago, the concept has been with IAI since its establishment in 1953. Being responsible for Israel’s security and economy, and for our workers – who comprise the technological forefront of Israel, being accountable for the environment and the communities in which we work, concurrently with maintaining excellent relationships with customers and suppliers – all these have been part of our dynamic daily routine.

The meaningful transformation we undertook in recent years drives integrative, consistent, and cross-company processes, which seek to achieve specific objectives and targets based on world-class standards. Most importantly, our senior management and board of directors have committed, using an explicit vision, to abide voluntarily by these standards and support our performance with detailed and transparent reporting.

In dealing with our material sustainability topics, we employ a broad range of strategic considerations, including the goals of the global aviation and defense sector, the insights of our internal and external stakeholders, the evolving global meta-trends, and the sustainable development goals set by the United Nations for 2030 (SDGs).

To successfully manage our sustainability initiatives, IAI implements a lateral-systemic approach involving all groups, divisions, and subsidiaries. Measurable and consistent work plans allow us to guide the company’s strategic progress in all vital core areas.

A sustainable strategy is about sustaining the environment, society, and our business. It forms an integral part of the requirements of our business partners, including mega-corporations that share our understanding that corporate responsibility is necessary throughout the value chain and product life cycle.

The three previous reports described our vision and direction, which we translated into a strategic five-year sustainability plan implemented in 2019. We acknowledge that this journey started over six decades ago and is one in which we secure the future and solidify the growth of IAI as a sustainable company.
